10 Reasons to Develop Organic Food
1 We do not want
We do not want to pollute the air, water, soil, wildlife life and environment due to the pesticide industry and the chemicals used in the fields during the production stage. Pesticides such as dioxins and organochlorines have been found in the blood of white polar bears (source: WWF-UK).
2 We do not want
We don't want GM crops to destroy biodiversity and the world's gene pool. In 2002, the University of California at Berkeley announced that genetically modified corn had been found in a remote plateau in Oaxaca, Mexico. Because in 1998, Mexico banned the use of genetically modified corn, pollution through the scientific community raised the alarm. Scientists say the phenomenon suggests that the gene cannot be controlled once it is released into the environment. A shocking figure: 56% of the world's soybeans are genetically modified! And most of the research on the impact of GM on human health has fallen into a bottleneck.
3 We do not want
We don't want to eat contaminated foods that contain growth hormones, pesticides, GMOs, antibiotics and other chemicals. They will affect our body organs, cause dysfunction, and cause serious diseases that we have recognized as modern times. The World Health Organization estimates that 3.5 million to 5 million people worldwide suffer from acute pesticide poisoning each year. procymidone, paracetamol, manebe, captan, propene zinc, malamil, ethylene sclerotiorum, pyrimethanil are widely used insecticides, as well as others such as neurotoxins, embryotoxic, endocrine disruptors and carcinogens, which are specifically classified by the World Health Organization and the European Union. The proportion of brain tumors in the agricultural population is 2.6 times that of the average population. (Source: French Association for Cancer Research).
4 However, we hope
However, we want to consume healthy and pure food, high nutritional quality, rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, secondary metabolites flavonoids and more energy. According to a four-year study conducted by the University of neucastle in the United Kingdom, organic fruits and vegetables contain 40% more antioxidants than non-organic products. The study also found that organic products contain large amounts of vitamin C and trace elements such as iron, copper and zinc. Through the contrast of milk is more obvious, organic milk, antioxidants and beneficial fatty acid content than non-organic milk 50%-80% higher. In 2003, another study in the United States found that organic crops contained 21 nutrients, all of which were higher than the average level of non-organic crops. 5 we hope.
We hope that the consumption of healthy food will make people healthier, increase their resistance to disease, take less medicine to see a doctor, make people's life better and save public funds. Selenium is an antioxidant nutrient that protects us from environmental chemicals. Can prevent cancer and heart disease. It averages more than 390 percent in organic foods (source: Walter J. Crinnion, N.D., environmental toxicity physician in Washington, D. C., and teacher at Bastyr University in Seattle).
6 we hope.
We want future generations to eat uncontaminated and non-GMO foods. In China, we believe that 10% of arable land (10 million hectares) is already seriously polluted. Every year, crop losses exceed $2.5 billion (Source: Minister Zhou Shengxian, State Environmental Protection Administration). In addition, according to data previously released by the government, 90% of China's polluted underground water has been polluted, and the impact on the soil cannot be measured (source: AFP).
7 Organic agriculture consumes less energy
Organic farming consumes less energy than traditional farming. Energy will be one of the major issues of the future. Today, it has become the fuse of war. Producing one kilogram of organic corn consumes 30% less energy than producing non-organic corn, although it requires 25% more labor. Producing organic soybeans consumes 20% less energy than traditional methods. Feeding cattle with organic grass requires 50% less fossil energy than traditional grain-fed cattle. 8 High water use efficiency in organic agriculture
Organic agriculture improves water use efficiency and saves water more than traditional agriculture. As an energy source, water has become an important issue for the development of people and countries and a source of conflict. Organic agriculture has the potential to reduce water use and improve water availability through vegetation and soil management. Rhodes College in Pennsylvania reports that organically managed drylands can increase corn yields by 28-34%. (Source: WWF, USA) Without scientific analysis, India's observation of organic systems shows that they can reduce irrigation water by 30%-50%. (Source: Proctor and Cole, 2002).
9 Carbon sequestration in organic agriculture
Because organic farming can help prevent global warming. Organic farming soils contain up to 30 percent more carbon than conventional farming, reducing CO2 emissions from these lands by more than 15 percent. (Source: Rhodes College, Pennsylvania, USA).
10 Organic Agriculture Protects Ecology
Just because the world is in danger... Albert Einstein predicted: "If the bees disappeared, then the survival time of mankind will be only four years". In fact, bees pollinate 80% of the world's plant species. In the past decade, the number of bees around the world has been greatly reduced. Science has proved that some pesticides, such as neocotine insecticide, fipronil and Aktai, have become one of the main culprits of colony collapse and disorder. In 2008, in order to prevent the occurrence of colony collapse disorder, the German government has begun to ban the use of new nicotine insecticides in Germany.
The latest research results are published in the journal JAMA Intern Med under the title "Association of Frequency of Organic Food Consumption With Cancer Risk.
According to this latest study, people who eat more organic food have a 25% lower risk of cancer compared with those who eat the least organic food.
Lead researcher Julia Baudry, a scientist at the Sorbonne University Research Center in Paris, France, explained: "Specifically, we found that eating more organic food was associated with an 86% reduction in the incidence of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a 76% reduction in the incidence of all lymphomas, and a 34% reduction in the incidence of postmenopausal breast cancer."
Julia Baudry said: "If our findings are confirmed, then eating organic foods may help prevent cancer. In fact, whether organic or not, adding fruits and vegetables to the diet can reduce the risk of chronic diseases and cancer."
Mark Guinter, a postdoctoral fellow from the American Cancer Society, said: "The most important thing is to avoid red and processed meats, make sure you eat fruits and vegetables, and eat whole grains."
In this latest study, Julia Baudry and her colleagues analyzed data from nearly 69000 people participating in an ongoing study in France on the link between nutrition and health. The participants filled out annual questionnaires about their health (including cancer cases, followed for an average of 4.5 years) and their consumption of organic products, including fruits and vegetables, meat, fish, dairy products, eggs, bread and other foods.
Scientists have found that eating organic food is associated with a reduced risk of cancer, including taking into account other cancer-causing factors. "We did take into account various factors that might be involved in this relationship, such as family history of cancer, or healthier eating habits in terms of nutrition and food consumption, as well as sociodemographic, socioeconomic and lifestyle factors," said Julia Baudry. Controlling for these factors did not significantly change the findings.
Studies have shown that people who eat organic food have lower levels of pesticide residues in their urine. Organic food is grown without pesticides, fertilizers and other chemicals. In past studies, "exposure to pesticides was associated with a higher risk of cancer". Baudry said.
This latest study also backs up the findings of a UK study that found an association between organic food intake and low risk of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Dr. Frank Hu, of the Harvard Chan School of Public Health, said animal studies have shown that pesticides increase DNA damage, which increases cancer risk. Chemicals can also disrupt the endocrine system. However, there is not enough evidence to support the new dietary recommendations.
In fact, whether traditional or organic, increasing the intake of fruits and vegetables can improve the quality of the diet and reduce the risk of chronic diseases including cancer.
